Awake to righteousness, and sin not...
You know when you wake up and there's somo in your eyes and you gotta blink a little to see well...living in sin is like going around groggy-eyed all day long.
I love this phrase because it gets me thinking about the other things to which I need to wake.
Health. Faith. Testimony. Family. Career goals. Etc.
Blessed thought.
1 Corinthians 2:5
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
You don't have to know everything to follow Christ or have every single question answered to know something's true. Don't let what you don't know negate what you do know.
Read Jeffrey R. Holland's April 2013 conference talk.
In the words of a father desperate for faith, "I believe. Help thou mine unbelief."
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
I especially like verse 12. The image of putting our darkness away and looking to the light reminds me of king Benjamin's counsel to turn our homes toward the temple. The visual of being armed with light is a powerful reminder that we once stood with Christ in the premortal world. It is our duty to do it again.
...salvation is not a cheap experience. Salvation never was easy. We are the Church of Jesus Christ, this is the truth, and He is our Great Eternal Head. How could we believe it would be easy for us when it was never, ever easy for Him?"

The hobble outta bed the morning after racquetball...my reality all too often now, and I'm glad:)
Romans 12
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
I really love these parts of this chapter and the part about not being a snob. Paul confuses me sometimes...I just finished the grace chapters...but it's been good for me to dig deeper and find out what it means.
I have a testimony!
"Don't accommodate any degree of temptation. Prevent sin and avoid having to deal with its inevitable destruction. So, turn it off! Look away! Avoid it at all costs. Direct your thoughts in wholesome paths. Remember your covenants and be faithful in temple attendance."
